Mission Statement:
The Horsepower With A Heart Foundation seeks to enrich the lives of children in need by supporting various children's charities.
We do this by being present at automotive events such as car shows, cruises, club events, and other charitable events.
Our status as a 501(c)3 organization (application pending) enables us to maximize contribution amounts and assist causes and charities of all sizes.
History:
The foundation is the vision of Kyle Caraway, founder of the Shelbyfest. Shelbyfest began as a small car show in Hermann Missouri. Now, approaching its fifth year, Shelbyfest has become one of the fastest growing Shelby based, all mustang events in the United States. 2011 will mark the second year the foundation and Shelbyfest will be partnering with the Make A Wish Foundation. As we look to the future, it is the hope of everyone involved with the foundation that we continue to grow in size and continue to progress in our effectiveness in helping children.
About Our Founder:
Kyle Caraway has been a fan of musclecars since he was a young man growing up in Kirksville MO. Inspired all through his childhood by Ford Mustangs, Kyle says his earliest recollection of a memorable pony was convertible 64 1/2 driven by his first grade teacher (although a recently discovered baby picture reveals that he lived next to a 69 Mach 1). Being a fan of the Mustang was just the beginning for Kyle. In 2006 he took delivery of a 2007 Shelby GT500. 2007 saw the first Shelbyfest. In 2008 he co-authored "Wild Horses, A Portrait Of America's Favorite Muscle Car". In 2010, he signed on as a creative consultant/executive producer for the American Pony Builders television program airing on Fox Sports in the fall of 2011. Kyle has two children of his own and says "the children of the world are our future and they need all of us to protect them, it's through the efforts of the foundation that we can help do just that".
