John Clor from Ford Motor Company Announced as Saturday Banquet Speaker

John Clor from Ford Motor Company will be the keynote speaker at the saturday banquet. Mr. Clor is noted mustang enthusiast, published author, and long time Ford fan who is eager to share with the crowd at Shelbyfest as well as get to know them. Below you will find some biographical information on John:

Veteran automotive journalist and author John M. Clor has owned, worked on, raced and written about Fords and Mustangs for nearly three decades – and is a regular columnist for Mustang Enthusiast, Mustang Times and magazines. John has been a respected member of the automotive media since 1989, with his work appearing in a wide range of both consumer and industry publications. Additionally, his marketing communications work for the likes of Ford, General Motors, Mazda and several automotive suppliers has given him comprehensive insight into the auto industry that few can match. A native Detroiter, Clor had paid his journalism dues with a 15-year editing career at The Detroit News before joining the staff of AutoWeek magazine, where he spent more than six years writing road tests and penning auto features as Deputy Managing Editor. John then jumped into the corporate automotive public relations world in 1995, when he became the Communications Manager for the Special Vehicle Team, Ford’s high-profile, high performance vehicle group. But it didn’t take long for him to get back to his first love – writing about cars – with a three-year stint as Detroit Editor for the Edmunds.com automotive Web site.

John’s broad-based automotive knowledge and engaging personality have earned him recurring guest spots on radio and TV, including CBS, CNN, PBS, The History Channel, Tech TV, ABC Radio News, NPR, Michigan Public Radio, WJR, and many other national and local media outlets. On the freelance side, Clor directs his own communications enterprise called “Cars in Context,” providing custom automotive writing, editing, research and consulting to a variety of clients, including cable TV's Modern Marvels and the Los Angeles Times.

After returning to Ford and managing its SVT and Shelby GT500 website for more than a half-decade, John has penned and published a hardcover history book titled, The Mustang Dynasty, whose first printing in 2007 had sold out in just 12 weeks. Today John manages the Ford Performance Group of enthusiast organizations for Ford Racing and creates website content for www.FordPerformance.com as an Account Director for PCGCampbell, a Dearborn-based marketing communications agency. Still active in car clubs as a director of the SVT Owners Association and serving as editor of its critically acclaimed SVT Enthusiast club magazine, John is the proud owner of three ’70s-era Mustangs – one of which he still describes as “a long-term project.”

Shelbyfest Mentioned In Article By

noted mustang Historian

Austin C. Craig

Appearing in the Sept 2009 issue of AutoTraderClassics.com's Mustang and Ford magazine It was an honor to have Mr. Craig present at the 2009 event and an even bigger honor to be mentioned in one of his articles.

The following are excerpts from that article:

"Entering Hermann it is easy to see why it is a favorite getaway for so many people in the Midwest. There are numerous bed and breakfasts, quaint shops and restaurants and a bakery that features out of this world donuts."

"Kyle has built Shelbyfest into a very enjoyable event. It is easy to understand why the Yergovich's have been so supportive of the event. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel glad you came to Hermann."

"Each street has a number of interesting shops and places to eat, some with cool names like, "Time For Pie". For those of us that like wings, "Wings-a-Blazin was the perfect lunch stop."

Mary Jean Wesche, editor of Mustang Times, official publication of the Mustang Club of America, has undertaken a project for the ultimate benefit of the Susan G. Koman Foundation and the fight against breast cancer. This project is called the Mystic Build '67 Project. This project is the complete construction and creation of a 1967 vintage Mustang fastback. Mary Jean is looking to any and all who would like to donate any of the parts she needs to build this one of a kind Mustang from the ground up. A brand new 1967 Mustang fastback body has been donated to the project by ::....DYNACORN INTERNATIONAL....::, the makers of complete brand new body shells for 67 Mustangs and other vehicles. So Mary Jean is well on her way on Mystic Build '67 Project.
If you or anyone you know would like to donate any parts to help Mary Jean complete her Mustang, please don't hesitate to contact her by email at Mustang Times and let her know you'll help. When the Mystic Build '67 Project Mustang is completed, it will be raffled off and the proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The Mustang Grabber Registry is donating to the cause and would like to encourage your participation in this very worthwhile project. The Susan G. Komen Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer and supporting those who have been touched by this disease. Let's help Mary Jean build one of the nicest 1967 Mustang fastbacks to ever hit the streets. Drop Mary Jean an email at mjwesche@patemarketinggroup.com
